Information

WGC Bridge was set up for Worplesdon Golf Club Members, their families, and guests to play online bridge during Lockdown.

There were several different groups that played Bridge at Worplesdon prior to Lockdown, who had some success with online Bridge (e.g., BBO and Trickster), but it didn’t really provide the social side of Table play.

RealBridge is an online bridge system developed in Cambridge since the first lockdown.  It offers a solution for clubs to run Casual/Practice, Duplicate pair and team sessions for a reasonable price and has an easy-to-use interface with built in audio and video that successfully tries to recreate normal table play.

We registered a RealBridge account and set up WGC Bridge with the following goals: -

·        To have fun

·        To develop a Worplesdon Bridge community with all the positive aspects of a typical Bridge club but without the negative aspects

·        To offer a reliable, easy-to-use, and affordable online duplicate bridge platform

·        To minimise the admin effort and number of volunteers needed to run the bridge community.

·        To restart inter-club competitions

·        To enter teams in the online EBU competitions and the Surrey Leagues

·        To contribute to Charities through running specific charity events and donating any surplus funds that may occur from time to time as a result of the communities cost recovery.

·        And again…To have fun!!
